I went to the Barbie movie during the year. The movie was (for me) about the feminist era of the 1970’s and 1980’s. It portrayed, through Barbie and her friends, the liberation of women from ‘dolls/wives/playthings’ to real people along with the vision to achieve equality, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age.
I was reminded of my own feminist days in the 1980’s when I worked hard as an architect to remove the stigma of being a woman in the very male construction world.
During my time as an architect, reps would bring us samples of products for us to use, and I kept the PSP box set of Plexiglas sheet samples. They were the perfect colours for Barbie inspired work, were lightweight, and were fun to work with
